The family and closest friends of the late Tony Warren would like to offer our thanks to the many people who showed great kindness and support during Tony's illness and in the time since he left us on 1st March 2016.

For the well-organised yet compassionate medical care of Tony, we are truly indebted to the teams at: L2 Ward, Salford Royal Hospital; The Lakes Medical Centre, Swinton; and the District Nurses based at Lower Broughton.

For their efficient, dignified and extremely sensitive approach to every request, we are so grateful to all the staff at Paul Williams Funeral Directors.

We are greatly appreciative of the dedication and professionalism of the staff at ITV and the clergy, staff, organist and choir of Manchester Cathedral for making sure that Tony received the funeral that he wanted.

Sincere thanks are owed to some of Tony's favourite actors for undertaking their roles as pallbearers and speakers with great distinction, and to Reverend Canon Philip Barratt and Reverend Prebendary Stephen Coles for leading a beautiful service.

Finally, thank you to all Tony's colleagues, friends and members of the public who visited, called or sent cards in his last days and, following his passing, offered assistance and words of empathy to us or tributes to Tony. The media's celebratory and respectful reporting must be acknowledged.

We are sorry that we did not get the chance to speak with everyone at Tony's funeral but are so pleased and proud that you were part of such a special day.
